I was married for 22 years, and in 2022 my ex-husband divorced me in Haiti. I believed that was a legitimate divorce. After some time and confusion, a friend referred me to Linda E. Capobianco, Attorney at Law, to review my situation. At first, I hesitated, but my friend insisted — and I am so grateful I finally contacted the firm.
During my consultation, Linda was very attentive, took careful notes, and explained that I was not legally divorced, as there was no jurisdiction in Haiti since both parties were living in the United States. She also warned me that foreign divorces can sometimes cause you to lose your rightful inheritance and legal rights.
